Accessibility statement for the new Trade Remedies Service (TRS) from June 2026

The Trade Remedies Authority is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

This accessibility statement applies to www.trade-remedies.service.gov.uk.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, this means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We have also tried to make the website text as clear and simple as possible.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

(a) Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

We know that some parts of this website are not fully accessible. We are actively working to address these issues.

At launch, known issues include:

  • Form labels and instructions
Some form fields do not always have clear programmatic labels or instructions. This may make them harder to use with assistive technologies such as screen readers.
This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships) and 3.3.2 (Labels or Instructions).
Planned fix date: 30 September 2026
  • Keyboard navigation and focus visibility
Some interactive elements do not consistently show a visible focus indicator when using a keyboard.
This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.7 (Focus Visible) and 2.4.11 (Focus Appearance).
Planned fix date: 30 September 2026
  • Error handling in forms
Some error messages are not always clearly associated with the relevant input fields or announced correctly to screen reader users.
This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 3.3.1 (Error Identification) and 3.3.3 (Error Suggestion).
Planned fix date: 30 September 2026
  • Document accessibility
Some downloadable documents (for example PDFs) may not be fully accessible to screen reader users.
This fails relevant WCAG 2.2 success criteria where documents are part of the service.
Planned fix date: 30 September 2026

Our approach to fixing these issues

  • We are completing a full accessibility audit of the service – 1 to 14 June 2026 and will then update this accessibility statement with its findings.
  • We are prioritising fixes based on user impact – we will target completion of the highest rated fixes for before 30 September 2026.
  • We have committed resource to address known issues.
  • This statement will be updated as issues are fixed and new findings are identified.

Alternative access

If you cannot access part of this service or need support to complete a task, we will provide an alternative route. Please contact us using the details below and we will help you access the information or complete the service.

(b) Disproportionate burden

We are not currently claiming disproportionate burden for any part of this website.

If, following the accessibility audit, any issues are assessed as a disproportionate burden, we will:

  • carry out and document a formal assessment
  • explain the decision in this statement
  • set out what alternative access is available
  • review the position regularly

(c) Content not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Some content is exempt from the accessibility regulations. This may include:

  • PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 (unless required to use a service)
  • pre-recorded audio or video published before 23 September 2020
  • third-party content that we do not control
  • archived content that is not needed for current services.

Where this type of content is not accessible, you can contact us to request it in an alternative format.

The accessibility regulations define specific exemptions for certain types of content, but we will still aim to make content accessible where possible.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 29 May 2025.

It is based on:

  • an understanding of the platform build using PowerPlatform and publishing to gov.uk, and
  • a detailed accessibility audit to be undertaken by the Digital Accessibility Centre by 14 June 2026.

We will review and update this statement following completion of the audit and as improvements are made.

This statement was last reviewed on n/a – this is the first issue.

Accessibility statements should be reviewed regularly and at least once a year.
